Tiaan Louw, an exciting young left arm swing bowler, has signed a two-year rookie contract with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, commencing in January 2025. Born in High Wycombe in England, and raised in South Africa, Tiaan first caught the attention of county coaches at the age of 17 during a Northants pre-season training camp in Stellenbosch. His ability to swing the ball both ways as a left-arm opening bowler made an impression on the coaching staff.
Tiaan’s cricketing journey began early, opening the bowling for Bishops Diocesan College’s First XI from the tender age of 15. His school career was marked by consistent performances, highlighted by his exceptional bowling averages: 13.2 runs per wicket in 2023 and 13.5 in 2024. These statistics underscored his consistency and skill, making him a valuable member of the Bishops team that achieved the prestigious rank of number one in South Africa in 2024.
His talent did not go unnoticed on a broader scale, as he was included in the Western Province Blitz training squad from the age of 17. This experience further honed his skills and prepared him for the professional stage.
Now, with his contract at Northamptonshire, Tiaan is relishing the opportunity to improve and develop as a cricketer, and hopefully achieve further accolades in the near future.
