Ed Barnard is an all-rounder who has recently joined Warwickshire CCC.
Ed, hailing from Shropshire and Shrewsbury School, was one of the talented group of players to come through the Worcestershire academy. He made his impact initially as a bowler, breaking into the first team in 2015 across all formats. This was backed up with his batting for England U19s making a century in an U19 test against South Africa, as well as a critical 93 during the U19 World Cup in 2014.
2017 allowed Barnard to really make his mark on the county scene, a central part of Worcestershire’s promotion. He took 47 championship wickets as well as averaging over 35 with the bat.
Barnard was a highly valued player at Worcester and has impact across all formats and disciplines. Taking wickets at crucial times, and a trade mark glorious cover drive made for an exciting prospect.
At the end of the 2022 season, Barnard took the decision to make the step to a test match ground, and signed for Warwickshire where he has made a positive start. He scored a crucial 95 against Hampshire in May 2023, to provide a positive start to Warwickshire’s CC campaign, after a sticky 2022.
